Apologizes for last night’s jumbled post, but I am now (somewhat) awake and functioning now. Many of you who weren’t following the blog before I got us to Planet EVN or stumbled here somehow haven’t been around for the whole trip, so I should recap on TTG’s adventures. Of course, a real post on TWCC must come first! We have individual builds fixing the errors with saving and loading, so pick up the new version if you got last night’s.

Disclaimers: Contains harsh language, perverted or crude humor, subjects that may be controversial in nature, and suggestive themes.
As the writer, I’d suggest this game to people only above the age of 16 or who are mature.

Elise Greene is a young and aspiring pâtissièrie, as well as the daughter of a family who owns a bakery renown in Panadería (a fictional town in Southern California) for the quality of their baked goods. She’s going to inherit the family business in a couple of years since she’s the oldest and only child in this generation of the family, and all is well until her parents start thinking about selling the bakery. When Elise and friends find out, they resolve to fight back and show her parents that small businesses can still stay afloat even in the toughest of economic times.
That’s not all that happens during the year though. Within this small town lay many secrets, and most don’t stay so because of the notorious grapevine of gossip that weaves its way in nearly all social circles. Drama outside of the bakery’s going to go down, and like it or not, Elise could get more involved in any of them…
This is largely a character-based game, and the plot focus depends on which character you pursue.

It’s almost been a year since I really started writing, and I have to say I came a long way since. I cringe whenever I think of my first stories, but I don’t regret trying to write them (sharing, maybe).  They taught me what not to do and how to put together writing that flows easily, how to bend syntax to your will, etc. I’m still learning, but at least I can write something halfway decent.

Once I got a few months of writing under my belt, the idea of a bakery game by the name of “That’s the Way the Cookie Crumbles” entered my head. It was a glorious story set in a bakery with characters whose lives weren’t so glorious, but they pulled through and enjoyed life somehow. I liked this plot bunny, so I played around with it more. Characters came to me, based on the usual cliches and archetypes, but as I got to know them more they became unique characters on their own.

I was lucky to have one artist with me at the beginning, and while she was busy with life on her end to push out sketches quickly, her designs were great and not the same old characters you see in most visual novels. After I figured out that I couldn’t program the baking portion by myself, I got a little help from some friendly LSF members. We worked together, got to know each other, and it was great. Time passed, some left and some came.

And well, here we are today. It’s only the beginning of our trip to making VNs, but stick around and watch us go! See you next time :3
