It’s finally done :’D Doing this was good coding practice for me and I got a lot of experience slimming down code. If anyone checks the source code (which is open, I actually want people to check that out) you can see what I’ve done to it.

In other news, we’re making progress on TWCC-related things.

MADD_boys

A procession of the boys, going where? We just don’t know. These are the flat colors right now, everything should be shaded in nicely by Rei.

After a bit of discussion, we’re also finally opening up our dev forum for others to join. It’s over here, and if you’re wondering why we used to have separate boards for fans and the team, it’s because we wanted the forum to integrate with the website as much as possible. It wasn’t as efficient as we would have liked, so here we are now. We’ll be posting more insider info there so it’s to your benefit that you join. What are you waiting for? Go go go!

Hey guys, what’s up? A lot of things have happened down here. Please welcome Miyoko, an artist, to our group! It hasn’t been long since she’s joined, but she’s been a big help already. All our games are slowly making progress with Lady Luck planned for an end of year release. Speaking of that, Rei’s done some nice concept art of lead girl Julie!

We’re happy to welcome Rin to the TTG team as an artist who’ll be coloring the sprites for That’s the Way the Cookie Crumbles and and drawing the cast for Puella Magi Ibuki Magica! She’s also the artist for her own project, Kaguya-hime: The Moon Princess Tale. From the Story page:

The story is based on a Traditional Japanese’s fairy tale ‘Kaguya-hime’, also known at ‘The moon princess’ or ‘The shimmering princess’. According to some source, the story is “among the first – possibly the very first – text of any culture assuming the Moon to be an inhabited world and describing travel between it and the Earth.

You can visit her project website to learn more details! Continue reading »

Apologizes for last night’s jumbled post, but I am now (somewhat) awake and functioning now. Many of you who weren’t following the blog before I got us to Planet EVN or stumbled here somehow haven’t been around for the whole trip, so I should recap on TTG’s adventures. Of course, a real post on TWCC must come first! We have individual builds fixing the errors with saving and loading, so pick up the new version if you got last night’s.

Disclaimers: Contains harsh language, perverted or crude humor, subjects that may be controversial in nature, and suggestive themes.
As the writer, I’d suggest this game to people only above the age of 16 or who are mature.

Elise Greene is a young and aspiring pâtissièrie, as well as the daughter of a family who owns a bakery renown in Panadería (a fictional town in Southern California) for the quality of their baked goods. She’s going to inherit the family business in a couple of years since she’s the oldest and only child in this generation of the family, and all is well until her parents start thinking about selling the bakery. When Elise and friends find out, they resolve to fight back and show her parents that small businesses can still stay afloat even in the toughest of economic times.
That’s not all that happens during the year though. Within this small town lay many secrets, and most don’t stay so because of the notorious grapevine of gossip that weaves its way in nearly all social circles. Drama outside of the bakery’s going to go down, and like it or not, Elise could get more involved in any of them…
This is largely a character-based game, and the plot focus depends on which character you pursue.

It’s almost been a year since I really started writing, and I have to say I came a long way since. I cringe whenever I think of my first stories, but I don’t regret trying to write them (sharing, maybe).  They taught me what not to do and how to put together writing that flows easily, how to bend syntax to your will, etc. I’m still learning, but at least I can write something halfway decent.

Once I got a few months of writing under my belt, the idea of a bakery game by the name of “That’s the Way the Cookie Crumbles” entered my head. It was a glorious story set in a bakery with characters whose lives weren’t so glorious, but they pulled through and enjoyed life somehow. I liked this plot bunny, so I played around with it more. Characters came to me, based on the usual cliches and archetypes, but as I got to know them more they became unique characters on their own.

I was lucky to have one artist with me at the beginning, and while she was busy with life on her end to push out sketches quickly, her designs were great and not the same old characters you see in most visual novels. After I figured out that I couldn’t program the baking portion by myself, I got a little help from some friendly LSF members. We worked together, got to know each other, and it was great. Time passed, some left and some came.

And well, here we are today. It’s only the beginning of our trip to making VNs, but stick around and watch us go! See you next time :3

Yet another post title that ends in an exclamation point! We’ve got good reason to though, I assure you. Why? The demo is finally out O:

Grab it for all versions here!

The demo begins a week since Elise gains control of the Greene bakery, so it’s not quite at the beginning of the game. Try it out, tell us how we did!

Meanwhile, I must catch up on my sleep q-q

With 5 days left till the end of this month, we’re giving it our all and working along! Art’s coming along very nicely~ Here’s Terry, and thus finishes all the sprites we need for the demo! See if you can spot her tsun and dere expressions :P

Reikun’s already working on some backgrounds, and they’re coming along nicely :3 Here’s a WIP teaser?

Rei’s only going to do minimal shading on the BGs for the demo, and in the full game they’ll be shaded nicely.

Meanwhile, the rest of us have been working on other things. Funnyguts got a Free Play mode working so players who like the baking sim parts can see how successfully they can run the Greene bakery, as well as balancing of prices and difficulty of goods. Next on the to-do list is making a tutorial to teach players how to make their way along the baking portion and making sure no errors pop up.

On my end, I’ve been busy organizing the Dream’s Dénouement collaboration and that’s going swimmingly. For more info, check out the link above. I’ve been working on my share of writing between cleaning up script for TWCC.

And also! I’ll be at Anime Expo Day 2, and cosplaying as plain Tsukimi from Kuragehime/Princess Jellyfish at that. If you see anyone with an amigurumi Clara doll, that’s probably me. Maybe I’ll see some of you guys there? :3

We’ve gotten quite a bit done for the demo~ We might even be able to get some music in! But first, let’s see that lineart.

One expression is missing from here, but that’s pretty much Renee! The only sprite left to be drawn is Terry now~

And here’s your bishies! Only two sparkle out of the main cast, I should think. I mean seriously, how many otome games do you see that have a hipster as an obtainable? Huh? Huh? None so far, because hipsters are anything but mainstream. And somehow I thought it’d be entertaining to write the first one that did. Shush you.

And now news for the TTG group in general! retribute has offered us his wonderful composing skills for our games. He’s even got a song for that damn blond shouta dearest Alfonse! We’re grateful for his talents, and expect great things from him as well :3

That’s all for now guys! Thanks for reading and take a cookie on your way out.

So while you’re all waiting for Ryu to catch up on coloring duty, I finally kicked myself into finalizing how tall everyone was going to be. Reason why I didn’t do this earlier is because height and weight info are kinda like salt and pepper: you just don’t separate them. “But what does that have to do with anything-” HUSH!
